The Online Program is a great way for both non-traditional and international students to take classes and obtain an accredited pastoral ministry degree. New students may begin at one of seven entry times throughout the year. There are three sessions in the fall, three sessions in the spring, and one session in the summer. A new student must take an Intro to Online Learning class to aquaint the student with how the Wesley College Online Program works. The Intro class lasts two weeks, after which students are permitted to take full classes. Each full class lasts six weeks.
Pastoral Ministries Program Description:
The Bachelors of Science Degree in Pastoral Ministries is designed to prepare individuals for the pastoral ministry. Students will be able to communicate God’s Word through preaching and teaching, shepherd the church with spiritual and administrative leadership, and represent the gospel of Jesus Christ through a life of holiness.
Objectives:
Upon Completion of the Bachelors of Science Degree in Pastoral Ministries the student should be able to:
1. Communicate in a concise and coherent manner the message of the inspired Word through preaching and teaching;
2. Effectively integrate the social sciences in teaching and ministering to people;
3. Possess a knowledge of the basic skills of science and mathematics;
4. Demonstrate the ability to present the gospel effectively;
5. Establish and provide pastoral leadership and supervision for the various programs of the local church including evangelism, worship, Christian education, and missions;
6. Identify, compare and contrast basic biblical facts, teachings and themes from the Old and New Testaments;
7. Exhibit competence in defending the Wesleyan-Arminian doctrine of Christian holiness;
8. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of pastoral counseling;
9. Develop a personal theology of ministry;
10. Administer and/or perform the ordinances of the church.
What can you expect?
Study Time:
The online student at Wesley College can expect to spend a minimum of 15-20 hours per week toward each class.
Intro to Online Learning:
Each new student must first take the Introduction to Online Learning class. This class lasts for 2 weeks and guides the student through technical and posting aspects of the Wesley College online learning environment. It is an opportunity to test the waters and become familiar with a non-traditional method of learning.
First Full Class:
After successfully passing the Intro to Online Learning with a
B or higher, a student is allowed to take one 3-hour course during the next session. This course can be any course for which a student would normally qualify in the advisement process.
Successive Classes:
Upon successful completion of the first full 3-hour class a student will be allowed to take two classes per session and will be held to the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy for Online Students.
Advisement:
Each student will be assigned an online advisor to schedule the classes to be taken during his enrollment at Wesley College. The advisor will take into account any transfer credits approved by the Academic Dean and chart a future class schedule. The advisement process creates a schedule for the entire year. After an advisement meeting (usually via telephone), students will receive an email asking them to confirm their classes.
Financial Matters:
After the Financial Aid Department and Business Office have cleared the student, the advisor can then officially enroll the student into classes.

Technical Requirements:
Students must have access to a computer with the following:
- Microsoft Windows 2000, XP or Vista. (Mac computers can work but are not supported)
- Microsoft Outlook Express
- Internet Explorer 6 or higher
- Internet Access (Dial-up is ok, High-speed is better.)
Session Description:
The online year fits into three semesters just like an on-campus year. Fall and Spring Semesters offer three 6-week sessions. Summer offers one 6-week session. New students have seven opportunities per year to begin their study as an online student. The Introduction to Online Learning class is offered during the last two weeks of each 6-week session, allowing the student to begin his first class at the start of the following session.
